Comedy show and healthy networking
Fructinale 2009: 400 guests at summit meeting
of wholesale markets

During the industry’s key international trade fair, Fruit Logistica, Germany’s Association of Wholesale Markets, GFI, will be staging an event on Thursday evening, 5th February 2009, that offers a really unusual opportunity for healthy networking.

Fructinale: exclusive industry meeting in relaxed atmosphere

Andreas Foidl, GFI board member, is looking forward to the evening. “The film industry has its own event, the Berlinale. But what we stand for is fresher, and we want to celebrate life’s true stars: fruit and vegetables. Fructinale 2009 is the name of ‘our baby’, and it’s going to be a major event for every firm involved in the fruit and vegetable business. Everyone who’s anyone will be gathered at the Fructinale. A live comedy show where fresh food is served and people can network in an unusual location is a mix that makes our event quite unique.”
Over 400 guests from the business, political and media communities will be attending. GFI’s evening event is the largest during the trade fair. The show is practically sold out. Only a few tickets remain.

Andreas Foidl: “Wholesale markets are freshness networks – embracing growers, wholesalers, retailers and consumers. Professionals, partners and friends of our industry are looking forward to some good conversations and interesting contacts. We shall be offering them an unusual evening of freshness, variety and quality – funny, healthy and relaxing.”

Marheineke Markthalle: “Organic – fresh – regional”

We shall be celebrating where Berlin’s consumers have been buying their fresh produce for more than 115 years, at Marheineke Markthalle in Berlin-Kreuzberg. This is one of Berlin’s last remaining retail market halls; in 2007 it was totally modernized. Since then it has been winning plaudits for the new trading and catering concept. Over 50 suppliers cater to the needs of their customers, and their motto is “organic – fresh – regional”. Quality produce and customer service are their prime concerns. In addition to fresh produce, regional and international specialities and a variety of eateries, the hall offers space to crafts and service providers. This combination makes the hall an attractive meeting point for trade customers.

Comedy with Gabi Decker

Gabi Decker is guaranteed to provide a welcome break from the stress of the trade show. This sharp-tongued humorist is counted among the cream of Germany’s lady cabaret performers. She has been appearing in her own stage programmes since 1994 and is a permanent guest in Berlin’s famous cabaret theatre “Die Wühlmäuse”. She is also well-known to TV audiences, having appeared in her own comedy programmes and as a guest in “Quatsch Comedy Club”, “Mitternachtsspitzen” and “Blond am Freitag”.
Andreas Foidl: “We are so pleased that Gabi Decker agreed to do this show. She’ll turn the market hall into a theatre. She will be presenting some highlights from her current stage show “Deckerdenz” and, specially for us, “Fruit & Games”, which will include some surprises. It’s bound to be a great evening”.

Culinary delicacies – straight from the trader

The caterers and traders at Marheineke Markthalle will ensure that no guest goes hungry. Andreas Foidl: “It doesn’t come fresher or more authentic than this. Fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, bakery products and cheeses – every guest will find something to his taste from among the many different delicacies on offer. And as host for the evening we’ll be doing what wholesale markets do best: supplying freshness, variety and quality.”

A wide range of delicacies for the guests

The event is being supported by numerous companies involved in growing, wholesaling, service-provision and the media.
