FRANKFURT
WHOLESALE MARKET

The modern trading platform

Frankfurt fresh produce centre opened in June 2004. The site covers 13.3 hectares and offers a modern exchange facility where sellers and retailers meet to trade their wares. The innovative overall concept is the result of careful planning, making the fresh produce centre one of Germany 's most modern sites for wholesaling fresh food. Key features are the highly functional facilities, the latest technology, time-saving layout and a wide range of produce. Some 120 food wholesalers, importers, regional growers and sellers of specialities offer a øone-stopÓ opportunity to buy a comprehensive and varied range of fresh produce.

Vital pre-conditions to guarantee the freshness and quality of the goods traded are that the market is very easy to reach and is close to Frankfurt airport.

Frankfurt’s covered, street and specialist markets

Markets are a special feature of Frankfurt; and the covered markets, flea market and current tally of 16 street and farmers’ markets – supplied by 460 different enterprises – occupy a special place in the affections of the local population.

For centuries, open and covered markets have been part of the scene in what is now a modern trade fair and university city noted for its striking skyline. No matter which market shoppers choose – the street markets at Konstabler Wache, in the districts of Bornheim or Sachsenhausen, at Friedberger Platz or Schillerstrasse, the covered markets of Höchst or the town-centre’s Kleinmarkthalle – they will find a combination of market flair and the opportunity to select from a wide range of fresh food and other products straight from the traders and growers.

These markets cater to local tastes in Frankfurt and Hesse as well as reflecting international cuisine and revealing the variety of local produce and exotic delights available.
